Schedule of Bands

2:30 - 3:30 pm Mountaintop Sound Blending a mix of Americana, folk, and a hint of grass, Mountain Top Sound comprises an eclectic group of musicians bringing an unmistakable vocal blend to the forefront. They draw influences from Traditional Bluegrass tunes, Contemporary Americana, lyrical emotions often felt from Singer-songwriter favorites, and the relaxed vibe found in Jamgrass. Featuring seasoned musicians Steven Swift and April McPherson, they love jamming anywhere and with anyone.

4 - 5:00 pm The RosaLees hail from the hills of sunny Southern Oregon and trace a distinct line between their music and the vision of female bluegrass pioneers such as Hazel Dickens, Alice Gerrard, Rose Maddox, and beyond. At the forefront of their music lies an emphasis on closely blended harmonies, hard-charging rhythms, and lyrically potent songs. Their repertoire mingles elements of traditional bluegrass with traces of old-time fiddle and banjo tunes, classic country, old-world Celtic music, and gospel. They prioritize songs with meaning and a strong turn of phrase, working to fuse all these ingredients into the original songs that punctuate their sets. Audiences consistently rave about the distinct blend of their vocal harmonies and instrumental acuity, not to mention their playful on-stage demeanor. The Rosa Lees are Rachel Buklad on banjo, Jessie Monter on fiddle, Holly Hurley on bass, and Bekkah McAlvage on guitar.

5:15 Dance Your Grass Off  Contest All are welcome to join in our annual dance contest!

5:30 - 6:30 pm The John Dough Boys are a rowdy boot stompin', bar shaking, PBR slamming band out of Southern Oregon playing a style of original music lodged somewhere between Bluegrass and Punk Rock for the last nine years in different incarnations. A blistering lineup filled with gang vocals, upright bass, fiddle, acoustic and electric guitar… and wait til you see our drummer, folks - it's the sort of music that is best seen live and in person, surrounded by friends and strangers alike. Come get rowdy with the Dough Boys!

7 - 8:00 pm Chasing Keridwyn brings driving bluegrass to Southern Oregon and beyond. The band evolved from the popular group Hot Copper Kettle. Crafting intricate solos and soaring harmonies, Chasing Keridwyn increasingly blends more traditional bluegrass music with other genres for a fresh lively sound.

The members had been playing with each other in different bands and informal sessions for years and it seemed timely to join together to sprout a band. The joy and friendship, the hours of practice and rehearsal, the dedication to developing tunes with care shines through the music.Ceridwyn (Keri) Ames, banjo and vocals, has been a bluegrass enthusiast for a very long time.  Although starting on guitar, banjo quickly became her passion and focus for the last 6 years. Growing up in Ashland, Oregon, Keri has played in many groups including Hot Copper Kettle and Mountaintop Sound. Along with loving all things banjo, Keri is also an artist and above all adores her family and animals .

Born and raised in Ashland Oregon, Lela Miatke has been playing music since the age of eight. Growing up in a musical family, Lela gravitated towards the fiddle and spent her childhood traveling and performing with her dad and sister in the Ashland-based family band Rainy & The Rattlesnakes. An accomplished singer with a smooth and powerful voice, Lela accompanies her vocals with a lilting bluegrass and old-time fiddle style.

Walter Sydoriak, mandolin and vocals, began playing mandolin in the 1970s in New Mexico in a family of musicians. He has performed on many recordings and in many bands, including an early Strawberry Bluegrass Festival band contest winner The Generic Bluegrass Band. The Celtic band Bonnie Bedlam performed for sell-out concerts for over a decade. Now living in Ashland, Oregon, Walter still plays in numerous Celtic and other ethnic sessions in addition to folk and bluegrass.

Michael Lindgren, acoustic bass and vocals, disappeared into Alaska in his early 20's, and twenty years later surfaced in the great state of Oregon. During that time in Alaska he immersed himself into the thriving bluegrass and old timey scene, attending festivals regularly, and picking up banjo, guitar and bass skills along the way. After finding the bluegrass scene in theRogue Valley, and many years of participating in various performing groups and regular jams, Michael has found his fortune in Chasing Keridwyn, which puts his bass and vocal skills side by side with four other immensely talented pickers and singers.

Dan Popelka, guitar and vocals, was born and raised in La Crosse, Wisconsin into a very musical family and has lived in the Rogue valley since 2013. Having played many instruments throughout his life, his primary focus is on the guitar which he has been playing for over 20 years. His musical interests are broad and wide-ranging, and Dan loves to see, as well as play, live music. Where there's a show, you will probably find Dan. His love for bluegrass, however, is deep and his guitar playing reflects his love of the genre and the community within it.
