From Assessment to Action: Join the Work

Across the Rogue Valley, people are stepping up to build a stronger, more resilient food system—ensuring access to healthy food, supporting farmers and food businesses, protecting soil and water, and reducing waste.
Over 2,000 people helped shape the Rogue Valley Community Food Assessment, which laid the foundation for the Food System Action Plan. The assessment gave us the data, but it’s the collaboration of neighbors, organizations, and partners that will bring it to life.
The Action Plan identifies four key goals for building a stronger, more resilient food system in the Rogue Valley. Each of these four goals represent a working group that you can be a part of:
1. Ensuring Access to Healthy Food For All
2. Invest in a Thriving Local Food and Farm Economy
3. Building Healthy Soils and Protect Watershed Health
4. Reduce Food Waste and Related Solid Wastes
Each goal includes specific objectives and more than 100 concrete action items- prioritized by community leaders and advisors- that are ready for implementation.
The Role of Working Groups
To turn these priorities into tangible action in our community, the Rogue Valley Food System Network (RVFSN) is bringing together community members, organizations, and decision-makers through four dedicated working groups- one for each of the core goals.
These working groups foster the collaboration necessary for action. Each group is focused on:
- Advancing key strategies from the Action Plan
- Supporting local initiatives and partnerships
- Identifying funding and sharing technical resources
- Tracking impact and adapting as needed
Whether you’re a farmer, nonprofit, policymaker, educator, food business owner, or passionate community member- there’s a place for you in this work.
Your voice and energy are needed. Join a working group, share your ideas, and help shape the future of food in the Rogue Valley. Together, we can ensure that our food system nourishes people, farms, and the land for generations to come.
